Amanda Vellinga Joins McClure

CLIVE, Iowa, January 14, 2019 – Mandi Vellinga has joined McClure, a Midwest-based Engineering, Surveying, and Planning firm as Community Researcher for the Creative Placemaking Team, based out of the Clive, Iowa office.

Vellinga will be working with Zack Mannheimer, Principal Community Placemaker, and Libby Crimmings, Vice Principal Community Placemaker. Her responsibilities will primarily revolve around grant writing and research, writing reports in compliance with grant funding, and working in the field in communities in which McClure partners.

“Amanda brings a wealth of research and grant writing experience that compliments her superb understanding of working with the grassroots of rural communities. We are excited to have her on our team,” said Mannheimer of Vellinga’s addition to the team.

Most recently, Vellinga worked as a Prevention Specialist for Employee and Family Recourses (EFR). In this role, she planned, implemented, and evaluated grant-funded prevention programming throughout five Central Iowa counties.

“I’m looking forward to the new challenges I will face while working at McClure,” said Vellinga, “working here is an opportunity for me to apply my skills while continuing to learn and grow professionally.”

Vellinga holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Anthropology from Iowa State University and a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from Des Moines University, where she completed her MPH student capstone project at the Iowa Department of Public Health in the Division of Behavioral Health.
