Justin Ness, PLS Joins McClure Engineering Co.

CLIVE, Iowa, December 27, 2016 – An Iowa based civil engineering firm is flying to new heights with a key hire in aviation. McClure Engineering Co. (MEC) is excited to announce that Justin Ness, PLS has joined the company’s Clive, Iowa office.

Ness joins the McClure Engineering Co. team as a Project Manager, working with both Aviation and Survey teams. He has been in the land surveying profession for 13 years, starting as a draftsman intern while in college and quickly moving through the ranks as a Field Technician, Inspector, CAD/GIS Draftsman, Party Chief, Project Manager, and Survey Department Manager.

Ness has trained with the National Geodetic Survey (NGS) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) personnel specifically on FAA Advisory Circulars pertaining to Airports Geographic Information Systems (AGIS) aeronautical surveys and data submission. Justin collaborated closely with FAA Airport District Office personnel during the implementation of the AGIS system to ensure that the airport data was accurately and correctly submitted for approval for use by the FAA in instrument approach development and data review, often times guiding the FAA personnel themselves through the process. Justin has been instrumental in bringing his team, airport sponsors, as well as FAA personnel, up to speed on pertinent regulations and requirements for airport data delivery to the FAA and NGS for use in the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) system.

The FAA is in the process of implementing the NextGen system – a new National Airspace System being created with the goal of improving the efficiency of our nation’s airspace system. The FAA AGIS system helps the FAA collect airport and aeronautical data to meet the demands of the NextGen System.

“We are thrilled to bring Justin’s AGIS expertise to our Aviation Team. With this addition, McClure Engineering Co. has significantly elevated our capability to assist our Airport clients’ transition into the FAA’s AGIS System in support of NextGen,” said Aviation Team Leader, Andy Maysent. “Justin’s knowledge base and experience will further strengthen our position as a leader in the aviation market throughout the Midwest.”
