NORTH KANSAS CITY, MO, November 2, 2018 – Anthony Brown, a Staff Engineer for McClure’s Development Services group, was recently honored at a Legacy Board Meeting at his alma mater, Benedictine College (BC). The event was a part of BC’s 2018 Homecoming celebrations where the school celebrated its 160th birthday. Brown was selected by the school’s President, Stephen D. Minnis, to speak about Benedictine’s impact on his life.

Brown graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in General Engineering from BC and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of North Dakota (UND). BC started the engineering program in 2009 as a collaborative program with UND. Through the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited Distance Engineering Degree Program (DEDP), students can earn a degree from UND while achieving an additional, second degree from BC.

“Benedictine served me in so many ways, but they taught me how to serve others during my time on campus and long after I graduated,” said Brown.

Along with being part of the first class of engineers to graduate from BC, and the first African American graduate of the engineering program, Brown was also the recipient of a football scholarship and played for the Ravens as a cornerback for four years.

“Football is what brought me to Benedictine, but they really prepared me for life after football,” said Brown, “I graduated with a great football experience but an even more beneficial undergraduate experience that eventually led me to a career at McClure.”

Brown was among three alumni to speak at the event hosting friends and family, faculty, and current students.
