Bethany Wilcoxon, Director at Capital Crossroads, will join McClure Engineering Company, a Clive-based Civil Engineering firm, as Vice Principal of Community Planning.

“After growing up outside of Atlantic, I understand the challenges that rural communities face,” said Wilcoxon. “Communities that take the time to define their vision and prioritize their efforts will be well-positioned for long-term success. My career has centered on building strong communities, and I look forward to continuing this work with the McClure Engineering Company team.”

Wilcoxon has served as Director at Capital Crossroads since September 2014, after spending nearly five years with the Des Moines Area Metropolitan Planning Organization. She will begin her new position at McClure Engineering Company on August 14th working directly with Principal Community Planner Zachary Mannheimer who joined the firm in March.

“Bethany is a great fit for our Creative Placemaking team as our work grows throughout Iowa, the Midwest and southern United States. Her years of experience in planning and building strong communities will complement the unique work that we do to grow populations, cultural experiences, economic development and revitalize rural America,” said Mannheimer.

Wilcoxon brings successful planning experience as she led the development of The Tomorrow Plan, a $3.1 million regional plan for sustainable development for Greater Des Moines that engaged 27,000 residents. She also managed the development of Capital Crossroads 2.0, the next five-year vision plan for Greater Des Moines & Central Iowa.
