McClure Engineering Company (MEC) announced the hiring of Mark Pearson, P.E., as senior project manager for water resources.
As a senior project manager, Pearson will provide his expertise to clients in the public and private sectors for water and wastewater engineering projects. He will also serve as a client liaison, manage projects and serve as a mentor on the water resources team.
“The addition of Mark to our team supports MEC’s strategic growth plan,” said Phil Burns, managing director of water resources – north. “He is experienced with projects and clients throughout the Kansas City and northwest Missouri area. He is well-known and liked by many of the clients we serve.”
Pearson has more than 38 years of experience with water and wastewater engineering. He has worked on a wide range of projects around the world, including facility design and cost estimating in New Mexico, California, Nevada, Iowa, Pennsylvania and England.
“In this new role, I am most looking forward to the freedom to be creative,” said Pearson. “Engineering isn’t a formula, it’s implementing a vision. You can reduce it to formulas, but the fun is in getting the client’s vision right.”
Pearson earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology, and his master’s degree in environmental engineering from California State University-Long Beach.
“What I enjoy most is working with the entire project team to make a design come together,” Pearson said. “Then, seeing a project go from concept to the reality of a working facility is truly rewarding.”
Outside of work, Pearson enjoys traveling and playing the viola in the Heritage Philharmonic in Blue Springs, Missouri. He and his wife, Sue, live in Independence, Missouri, near where he grew up. Pearson has two children and two grandchildren.
