CLIVE, Iowa, April 29, 2019 – Alex Pearlstein has joined McClure, a Midwest-based Engineering, Surveying, and Planning firm, as Vice Principal of Economic Development for the Creative Placemaking Group.

“I’m excited to join Zack’s team. They’re blazing new ground in strategies to make rural America competitive in today’s economy,” said Pearlstein. “I’m also looking forward to working with communities of all sizes, especially rural, and applying my extensive experience in looking at progressive community change from a holistic perspective.”

Pearlstein’s previous experience includes serving as the Vice President at Market Street Services, a top national economic development consulting firm based out of Atlanta, Georgia. During his 16 years at Market Street Services, he managed 63 projects for 49 communities of all sizes in 23 states and one Canadian province.

“I first got to know Alex when he created the strategic plan for the city of Des Moines several years ago and have since been anxious for an opportunity to work with him again. With over 16-years of experience, Alex brings a wealth of knowledge in the economic development field at a national level,” said Zachary (Zack) Mannheimer, Principal Community Placemaker, of Pearlstein’s arrival. “Our work in Creative Placemaking has expanded to over 18 states, and our team is seeing an increasing need for traditional economic development that blends with placemaking. I am excited about the new opportunities he will bring to our team and McClure,” said Zack.

At McClure, Pearlstein will be leveraging his experience with economic development to ensure optimal success for each Creative Placemaking project.

“I hope to add a specialization in traditional economic development strategic planning to McClure’s toolkit, and to contribute to the evolving definition and impact of placemaking that Zack and his team are reinventing,” said Pearlstein.

Pearlstein holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of California, San Diego, and a Master of Science in City and Regional Planning, Economic Development Specialization from Georgia Institute of Technology.
