CLIVE, Iowa, May 9, 2019 – Clint Sloss has joined McClure, a Midwest-based Engineering, Surveying, and Planning firm, as a Creative Placemaker for the Creative Placemaking Group based out of the Clive, Iowa office.
“I’m really looking forward to joining a team that has such a diverse set of skills and backgrounds,” said Sloss. “The work this team is producing is forward thinking, and I am excited to be a part of it.”
At McClure, Sloss will be splitting his time between the placemaking field work and supporting grant writing research and applications, as well as demographic studies.
“We are thrilled to have Clint join the Placemaking team as Community Placemaking,” said Libby Crimmings, Vice Principal Community Placemaker. “His extensive experience in rural economic development, grant writing, and comprehensive strategic planning will be a valuable asset to the communities we serve.”
Sloss’s previous experience includes working for JEO Consulting Group in Ankeny, Iowa as a Senior Community Planner. There, much of Sloss’s work was focused on providing ongoing services to clients while supporting other departments with grant writing and GIS mapping. Prior to his time at JEO, Sloss worked for the Omaha Council Bluffs Metropolitan Area Planning Agency as Project Manager for Heartland 2050, the regional vision project for the Omaha metro area. While in this role, Sloss oversaw grant administration and assisted with event coordination, community engagement, and social media/website management.
“At McClure, I hope to contribute a different perspective from a traditional planning background along with economic development experience that will allow us to expand our services to existing clients as well as create opportunities for new business,” said Sloss.
Sloss holds a Bachelor of Science in Community and Regional Planning, as well as a Master of Community and Regional Planning and a GIS Certificate from Iowa State University.
