North Kansas City, Missouri (November 18, 2019) – Each year the Design-Build Institute of America – Mid-America Region (DBIA-MAR), an organization to advance single-source project delivery, recognizes successful projects that were delivered through the design-build procurement method. This year, McClure was recognized with awards for both the Vertical Project of the Year and Horizontal Project of the Year.

During the annual DBIA-MAR awards banquet on Friday, Nov. 15, McClure was awarded the Vertical Project of the Year for its design in engineering and landscape architecture for the City of Independence, Missouri Uptown Market. The Uptown Market features fully enclosed and open-air pavilions providing a year-round home for local farmers and crafters, as well as a venue for events, classes, and celebrations within the community. For this project, McClure partnered with McCownGordon Construction, Hollis + Miller Architects, and the City of Independence to assist in revitalizing a portion of the Historic Independence Square.

McClure was also the recipient of the Horizontal Project of the Year award for its collaborative design and quick delivery for the City of Shawnee, Kansas’ first linear design-build project, Flint Street Improvements Project. The compressed project schedule allowed Emery, Sapp and Sons and McClure to work simultaneously to deliver the final design plans within eight months. This improvement project enhanced the quality and safety of the thoroughfare, from Johnson Drive to 62nd Terrace, for the community of Shawnee.

“It’s an honor to receive both acknowledgments for our efforts in fostering strong working relationships with local government officials and industry partners,” said Matt Kist, PE, Vice President of Development Services. “I truly believe we are achieving our goal of making lives better throughout the Kansas City metro.”
